Work in Progress
So, for three years I have been actively researching and attempting to develop an Internet Service Provider for my local community, which is currently an unserved market. Recently, Frontier Communications bought out Verizon (who I had been negotiating with, but have not signed a contract with) and now everything is up in the air.
Three years of work, a few thousand dollars and an incalculable amount of strees... All for naught, so it seems. I guess it's time for me to redo my resume and cover letter, because it looks like I'm going to apply for a job with them, as opposed to, competiting with them. Unfortunately, I have yet to talk with a representative from their company (other than customer service reps over the phone), so I cannot say for sure until after July 1st. Fun times, eh?
I don't if it's just me, but do you ever get the urge to bang your head off a cinder block until you lose consciousness? LOL. After all these headaches over the last few weeks imparticular, I almost want to...
On the inverse side, I didn't sign any contracts yet, so that's going to save me thousands of dollars; and, I didn't start filing papers with the state yet, so that's saving me about $5,000. So, the bright side is, I found out sooner than later... But, now it's back to programming and web design, as opposed to, working on my true passion: providing highspeed Internet to my local community.
But, as they say, Life goes on...
I've been really busy the last few weeks with client work and have not had time to finish the migration to Joomla!, let alone the website redesign. As you can see, it looks a lot different than before, but there are still a lot of small "tweaks" that need to be made. The portfolio section has, more or less, been finished; the "Services" section still needs to be worked on, but all in all I'm really happy with how things are coming together. Albeit, I wish I had more time to focus on finishing this site but I can't afford to turn down work, either.
If you're a new visitor to I Live in a Box, then I hope you see it as a canvas that is being slowly painted. lol. For real though, please subscribe to the site and watch it evolve. Over the next few months, this site will not only be a wealth of information and resources for aspiring web designers and/or developers, but it will contain a lot of other fun, insightful and otherwise interesting information, as well.
Best wishes,
